Advocacy

  • Advocated to ensure the provisions of children’s rights as fundamental rights in New Constitution of Nepal
  • Submitted the first shadow report of United National Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography (OPSC) to UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • Submitted the first supplementary report of United National Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Involvement of Children in Armed Conflict (OPAC) to UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • Submitted the supplementary report against 3rd/4th/5th CRC Report to UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
  • Geared up a strong civil society group for the ratification of The Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a Communications Procedure (OP3 CRC)
  • Prepared a comprehensive assessment/research of child poverty in urban settlements of Kathmandu Valley.

Community

  • 41 Early Child Development (ECD) classes of community schools equipped with child friendly classroom set-up, learning/playing materials benefiting 1854 children aged 3-5 years.
  • Rescued and Rehabilitated 63 children from being trafficked and labor.
  • No Dropout in two schools where the Community Kitchen Program is being implemented
  • 12 women changed their profession from entertainment sector and involved in income generation program and vocational trainings.
  • 2600 most needy children supported with scholarship and educational materials to continue regular education.
  • Translated UNCRC in child friendly Nepali language and pictorial demonstration and educated to more than 5000 children.
  • Built capacity of 874 child club members on child rights and child club management.
  • Built capacity of 1234 teachers, 276 ECD facilitators and 93 School Management Committee (SMC) members on child friendly teaching/learning and management.
