Child Nepal (CN) is non profit making and non government national organization formally established in 2003. CN is working with the children being more focused on protection and promotion of child rights in rights based approach. Its mission is – “Promoting Child Rights through Education” as CN perceives education is prominent theme to ensure child rights with full potentiality development opportunities in their own pace. Educating children with quality and life skill promotion ensuring child rights is to build efficient, competitive and proactive citizens for future, who lead the nation with innovative and inspiring vision.
CN has developed and been implementing different national level to local level programmes – a. Education, b. Child Rights Promotion and Protection, c. Research and Publication and d. Awareness and advocacy. The primary target groups of the programmes is all the children age ranges 0-18 years with more priority to most deprived children. Prime programme principals are guided by promotion and protection of the child rights as stated by the declarations of UN Child Rights Convention 1989 (it was ratified by our country - Nepal in 1990), Millennium Development Goals and EFA Declarations and targets under the Dakar Framework.
CN management, program team and advisers are consisting of human rights activists, activists in education and development professionals have been involving human rights campaigns in general, child rights protection and promotion campaigns in particular since its inception.
CN envisions a child-just society where rights of children are respected and ensured.
Facilitate the process to create child friendly environment and opportunities in local level to national programme planning and policy interventions, where ensure inclusive and quality education along with respected to the rights of all the children with special priority to the deprived children by working together with children, community people, other concern stakeholders and government and non government organizations.
Promote inclusive and quality education in child friendly learning and growing environment with more emphasizes to establish model education village replicable in all over the nation.
Ascertain enabling environment and opportunities, where all the children themselves will be actively participated to entertain their rights for their overall development in supportive surroundings.
Ensure the availability of resources and inform sources thereby all the children will be enjoying their childhood in their own pace with having broader updated information and knowledge on diverse matters and issues of the society and the world they are concern about.
Establish culture among family/community to national level concern stakeholders, where child rights and childhood development concepts will be incorporated and mainstreamed into programme planning and policy interventions as well as accepted in their individual culture and behaviors.
Establish all public schools and early childhood development centers in project areas as child friendly and model education centers by insuring inclusiveness and quality for all children.
Promote inclusive literacy and education among community people resided in project areas by establishing learning and sharing culture that fulfill their daily needs and requirements for advancement of their professions and living status.
Enhance the protection and promotion measures at local to national level on child rights in accordance with the principles and provisions enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Child Right optional protocols.
Develop favorable environment for elimination of all forms of exploitation, discrimination, violence against children, domestic violence and trafficking in children at local level.
Undertake numbers of research, survey, field studies, documentation and publication on the vital issues related to the rights and interest of children and serve as an resource center on child rights
Children will be well informed and updated on diverse contemporary local issues of the society and the world they are concern about.
Make aware to family/community and national level concern stakeholders on childhood development concepts and child rights issues that encourage incorporating it into their endeavors.
Persist on perceiving childhood development concepts and child rights issues in individual level among family/community and national level concern stakeholders that reflect in their practices and behaviors.
